Electrophysiology
The Scripps Clinic Medical Group Department of Electrophysiology are regional and national leaders, providing advanced cardiology care in the area of heart rhythm disorders. We work with referring physicians and medical colleagues across multiple specialties and subspecialties to provide the best possible treatment options for all types of arrhythmias. Scripps Clinic electrophysiologists perform more complex heart procedures than any other institution in southern California, including thousands of complex ablations for atrial fibrillation, ventricular tachycardia, and supra-ventricular tachycardia (also known as SVT). Expertise in all forms of intra-cardiac device implantation is also an essential part of the electrophysiology program including pacemakers, defibrillators, rhythm monitors (loop recorders) and extraction/removal of old systems. Due to the high volume of its procedures and the depth of experience, SCMG cardiologists often have access to new technology years ahead of mainstream use, such as the newest mapping systems for cardiac ablation, next generation leadless pacemakers, and left atrial occlusion devices.
