Department of Pediatrics
Our Department of Pediatrics is a large team of providers focused on caring for children from infancy through adolescence. With over thirty Pediatricians and Advanced Practice Clinicians on our team, we offer preventative and general medical care, from screenings and immunizations to treatment of illness and injury. SCMG’s Department of Pediatrics maintains a strong relationship with Rady Children’s Hospital; any required inpatient admissions are at Rady Children’s Hospital. We also provide specialty care for our patients both at Scripps Clinic and in collaboration with Rady Children’s Pediatric Specialists. Our pediatric providers assist in staffing the Level 1 Newborn Nursery at Scripps La Jolla Hospital. In every circumstance, our goal is to offer children, their parents and caregivers the compassionate, highly competent care we would want for our own families.

The Department of Pediatrics has developed and is committed to a number of patient care and internal improvement processes.
SCMG Department of Pediatrics is committed to fully vaccinating our patients, with ongoing initiatives Department wide to maximize vaccination in all children by age 2 years with required vaccines and to complete adolescent vaccines required by age 13 years, including the completion of the HPV vaccine series. We work with Scripps Medical Foundation Vaccine Committee as well as local public health representatives to help accomplish this.
We are dedicated to improving mental health for children and adolescents. Our Pediatric Mental Health Committee was created to optimize Depression and Anxiety screening in our Department and to facilitate care following this screening. We also have Model Cell involvement in the Department, a program that optimizes local clinic workflows.
Our Department has Committees on Antibiotic Stewardship and Newborn Care.
