General Surgery

Our Division of General Surgery is composed of a team of twelve surgeons and numerous clinical professionals providing comprehensive care for diseases of the breast, gastrointestinal tract, abdominal cavity, abdominal wall, and skin and soft tissue. From our busy high-risk breast clinic to our widely recognized weight management clinics, we pride ourselves in taking a compassionate, patient-centric approach to surgical procedures. We bring the best surgical practices to our patients as we help them navigate colorectal and gastrointestinal cancer, breast cancer, melanoma, weight management, and many other issues.

  • Dr. Eugene Rumsey received the Donald Sturtz Teaching Award from the Balboa Hospital Navy Surgical Chief Residents in 2005

Our Division offers a fellowship in Minimally Invasive and Bariatric Surgery. Our fellows are fully trained, board-eligible general surgeons. Our Division also assists in the training of Navy general surgery residents from Balboa Hospital, with a rotating PGY-4 resident on service with us at all times. We periodically offer rotation opportunities for PA students as well.
